A mediados del siglo XIX e inicios del siglo XX, el Perú recibió una masiva cantidad de inmigrantes chinos. En la presente investigación se aborda el impacto que este fenómeno migratorio tuvo en la Lima comercial de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, reflejado en la evolución urbana y arquitectónica de la calle Capón y las galerías comerciales ubicadas en esta. Es así como el artículo investiga en primer lugar la consolidación del espacio público de la calle Capón a partir de la construcción y comercialización de las galerías, posteriormente explora la funcionalidad y transformación del comercio en el interior de las galerías y finalmente investiga, desde un enfoque estilístico, el lenguaje arquitectónico utilizado, como expresión de la cultura china y el mestizaje producido por el fenómeno migratorio en las fachadas. Las tres galerías comerciales investigadas están ubicadas en la calle Capón, las cuales son: Galería Comercial “Barrio Chino” ubicada formalmente en el Jr. Ucayali 724-738 cuyo año de construcción se remonta a 1981 y remodelada en el año 2001, el segundo caso de estudio es la Galería Comercial “Capón” ubicada en Jr. Ucayali 765, construida entre 1965 y 1975; y el último caso de estudio es el Centro Comercial “Ton-Pho” ubicado en Jr. Ucayali 762-766-774- 778 construido en 1977 y remodelado en los años 2000 y 2018. Es así como investigación concluye, principalmente, afirmando que las galerías comerciales también son parte del patrimonio edificado de la inmigración china en el Perú.
