En el segundo capítulo se hace un recorrido por la historia de los inmigrantes chinos desde su llegada al Perú hasta su establecimiento en diferentes lugares del país; asimismo, se describe el proceso de integración de los chinos a la sociedad peruana, particularmente en la ciudad de Iquitos. En el tercer capítulo se realiza una breve reseña sobre los principales aspectos de la cultura china, centrándose en la religión, la lengua y la gastronomía, con la finalidad de entender mejor el proceso de incorporación de este grupo a la sociedad receptora. En el cuarto capítulo se analizan los datos recogidos en entrevistas elaboradas a inmigrantes y descendientes de inmigrantes chinos residentes en Iquitos, con el fin de apreciar mejor el modo de integración de los inmigrantes chinos a la sociedad iquiteña; igualmente, se dará una mirada inicial al aporte dejado por la comunidad china en Iquitos en el pasado y en la actualidad.
