Estudia cómo los chinos fueron revestidos de una segunda naturaleza que explica su "inferioridad"; siendo configurados en el mejor de los casos como trabajadores eficaces y sumisos. Estudia, también, la relación chinos e identidad nacional peruana. ¿Acaso los chinos podían robustecer el alma nacional del Perú ? Se analizará cómo han sido invisibilizados en el relato identitario peruano. Para ello se utiliza una amplia gama de fuentes (tesis universitarias, textos diversos sobre la inmigración al Perú, periódicos satíricos, relatos de viajes, memorias, etc.).

La inmigración china a gran escala a Perú comenzó a mediados del siglo XIX, y se desarrolló en las décadas posteriores, permaneciendo en el recuerdo de los descendientes de los pioneros. Se estima que el 15% de la población peruana tiene origen chino. La cultura china se ha integrado tanto en la vida local peruana, que persiste en las fiestas chinas, en la gastronomía chifa, en los
apellidos chinos de los peruanos, y hasta en el barrio chino de la capital y de otras ciudades. Este trabajo intenta investigar si existe una etnicidad china en el Perú, qué tipo de caracteres de origen chino se pueden descubrir en la cultura del pueblo peruano, y, por ejemplo, qué tipo de factores influyeron en la forma en que los inmigrantes chinos ascendieron socialmente en la sociedad peruana, incluyendo los campos de los negocios, de la actividad académica y de la política.

Da a conocer al chino emigrante desde el puerto donde se embarcó a Perú hasta que pasado siglo y medio algunos de ellos logran formar un árbol genealógico. Por lo tanto, se da a conocer Macao y sus creencias, costumbres y cultura de los chinos que ahí residían. Se tiene en cuenta cómo fue el tráfico de gente "trata amarilla", sus actores y el ambiente de traslado de cargazones de culíes, así como las vicisitudes durante la travesía. Luego de miles de culíes finalizaron sus años de contrata casi todos los sobrevivientes permanecieron en Perú, por ello se aborda sus oficios, actividades económicas y comerciales y estrategias de organización y defensa. Destaca la influencia de la comida cantonesa entre los peruanos. Se presenta detalles sobre la vida política de los chinos del valle del Jequetepeque y el proceso de peruanización de los chinos en Zaña. Dedica un capítulo especial a los chinos que se asentaron en el distrito limeño del Rímac.

La reanimación del Barrio Chino de La Habana se inició a fines del siglo XX, en la década de 1990, en la misma época en la que se vivía las penosas circunstancias económicas del Período Especial. Se hacía preciso recuperar y salvar la memoria viva, combinar el recuerdo y la acción de todos, honrar a los chinos que en el ayer habían formado parte de la idiosincrasia del pueblo cubano. Esta ponencia aborda las acciones realizadas para la reanimación y la recuperación de la memoria histórica del Barrio Chino de La Habana que tuvo como eje central a los adultos mayores chinos que permitió volcar todas sus sabias experiencias y transmitirlas a las nuevas generaciones conservando la memoria histórica.

El ballet la Agonía de Rasu Ñiti está basado en el cuento homónimo de José María Arguedas, y el compositor Nilo Velarde compuso la música por encargo del Ministerio de Cultura del Perú en el año 2011. La dirección escénica y coreografía estuvo a cargo del maestro Jimmy Gamonet (hoy en día director del Ballet Nacional del Perú), y dirigió la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional el maestro Fernando Valcárcel.

Acercamiento a la vida y obra de Han Su Yin.
Rosalie Matilda Kuangchu Chow, era el nombre en su partida de nacimiento. Su nombre de guerra y lápiz, el que esta escritora escogiera para retratar una China convulsionada, fue Han Suyin. A través de sus novelas y sus controvertidos artículos ella fue juez y parte. Aquel era un tiempo difícil, de grandes transformaciones, donde el pulso de muerte y vinculación del enorme país con el resto del mundo, debido a la invasión japonesa y sobre todo por la presencia inglesa, significaron implicancias que determinaron la construcción de la China actual.

¿Sabías que casi a finales del siglo XIX se inauguró la primera escuela china en el Perú?. Rodríguez Pastor narra cómo era este colegio y quiénes fueron a la ceremonia de apertura.
Esta escuela chino-peruana –así se llamó- fue inaugurada el 14 de mayo de 1888, su local se hallaba en la calle Pileta de Santa Rosa de las Monjas# 120 altos (actualmente 6ta cuadra del jirón. Ayacucho cerca del Barrio Chino).
La escuela contaba en un principio con 32 alumnos y dos profesores, uno de primaria, peruano, y otro en idioma chino. Se empezaría por primaria con niños de 6 a 11 años, en breve se podría duplicar el número de estudiantes.
