La obra está conformada por cuatro ejes analíticos: I. Pinceladas sobre el origen y evolución de las relaciones Venezuela-China; II. Li Dijun y el frustrado Tratado de Amistad Venezuela-China; III. Venezuela y la admisión de China en la Organización de las Naciones Unidas; y IV. Inicio y discontinuidad del entendimiento comercial. Sumado a ello, contamos con un Epílogo de dimensiones dialécticas y correctivas en el ámbito de las relaciones entre China y Venezuela, nos referimos a los hechos y al tiempo histórico real transcurrido a partir del 13 de abril de 1943, hito histórico que marca el inicio y que nos permite dar cuenta de casi ocho décadas de relaciones (1943-2023). Finalmente, este trabajo cuenta con un Apéndice que enriquece el análisis expuesto al lector. Cuatro tablas nos presentan, por vez primera y de manera sistemática, a los diplomáticos venezolanos en China y los diplomáticos chinos en tierra venezolana. Así, también la incipiente actividad comercial.

Abstract
A summary of the resource.
Analiza en un corpus selecto de cuatro obras, la narrativa de escritores panameños de ascendencia china para descubrir rasgos literarios y lingüísticos de su herencia ancestral y de la cultura de contacto. En el caso particular, se realizó el análisis hermenéutico del libro Relaciones entre Panamá y China (siglos XIX, XX y XXI) de la escritora Berta Alicia Chen. Se destaca que, en el discurso de carácter histórico, la autora describe minuciosamente tres sucesos trascendentales de la realidad social panameña: la llegada de los chinos al Istmo, el establecimiento de las relaciones diplomáticas con China y la visión global de China llamada Franja y la Ruta de la Seda. Se concluye que, a pesar del fundamento histórico indiscutible, sobresale en la obra la pasión de la autora por visibilizar la cultura china.

Este documento pretende detallar el desarrollo de una propuesta para la producción de un documental histórico sobre el genocidio de más de 300 chinos durante la primera toma de Torreón, Coahuila por parte del ejército Revolucionario. A través de la modalidad expositiva del documental se intenta aclarar los hechos ocurridos y desmentir algunas versiones que han proliferado en la población de Torreón respecto de esta masacre. El comentario experto de historiadores y representantes de la comunidad china de esta ciudad sirve para elaborar una semblanza de los hechos ocurridos y propicia la comprensión de esta masacre como testimonio de una campaña de discriminación contra este grupo étnico fomentada por el Estado Mexicano durante la primera mitad del siglo XX.

Al 2003, la integración social de los inmigrantes constituye un imperativo del Estado español como una demanda de la sociedad civil y las organizaciones de inmigrantes. Si bien las instituciones locales afirman que la población china no demuestra un interés particular por integrarse a esta sociedad, en los últimos años las asociaciones voluntarias chinas han desarrollado una serie de estrategias que han provocado un mayor acercamiento a las administraciones públicas, produciendo a su vez particulares elaboraciones discursivas sobre la integración social de su colectivo. En este artículo la autora analiza la forma en que las instituciones y sus agentes –procedentes del colectivo chino y de la sociedad receptora– conciben y/o aplican en sus prácticas, ciertas acciones vinculadas a la “integración social”. Para ello, delimita esta observación a las asociaciones voluntarias chinas, la cual ejemplifica los conflictos y paradojas de los procesos de integración social cuando las organizaciones de inmigrantes se encuentran expuestas a requerimientos desiguales por parte del país de origen y el país de destino.

Realiza una primera aproximación al tema del nacionalismo chino y la participación que las comunidades de chinos de ultramar tienen en la recreación de una identidad nacional, para detenerse específicamente en el rol adscrito a las mujeres inmigrantes chinas en tanto agentes encargados de portar y legar los valores culturales del grupo, en el caso específico de la transmisión del lenguaje y un sentimiento de pertenencia nacional. Más allá del carácter simbólico obligatorio, tradicionalmente impuesto a las mujeres, en la puesta en juego de este rol, la mirada se detendrá en el sentido positivo que estas tareas adquieren para aquellas mujeres que participan de las elites del movimiento asociativo chino-madrileño, en tanto se incluyen dentro del universo en el que se basa la investigación. La discusión quedará abierta, al final de la exposición, acerca de la implicación que este sentido positivo podría suponer en el seguimiento acrítico o el rechazo de este rol asignado.

El comercio de soja y la inmigración china son dos campos nodales de las relaciones sino-argentinas. Las políticas comerciales de cada país guían las ventas de soja, mientras que la política migratoria argentina busca controlar el flujo inmigratorio chino. Sin embargo, la creciente influencia de empresas y migrantes chinos en Argentina permea funciones asignadas al Estado. Pese a esto, el gobierno sudamericano todavía cuenta con capacidad para ejercer una influencia restrictiva significativa sobre los actores no estatales –legales o clandestinos–, a través de su papel dominante en la alianza con las empresas transnacionales y la potestad de controlar el flujo migratorio.

El Barrio chino de Lima, el más antiguo de América Latina, fue objeto de una serie de conflictos y estereotipos determinados por la raza y la salud pública durante el cambio de siglo. Una alianza entre médicos y autoridades políticas hizo de este espacio un lugar que atentaba contra la salud pública y el proyecto modernizador, aun cuando un importante grupo de limeños -especialmente las clases populares de la ciudad-, encontraron en los médicos chinos y sus tratamientos una alternativa médica viable y a un precio accesible. Reexaminando al Barrio chino como un enclave sanitario, este ensayo ofrece una mirada distinta a la relación entre autoridades, médicos inmigrantes y pacientes, a partir de fuentes como canciones, caricaturas y descripciones de viajeros.

El artículo analiza la primera obra de teatro escrita y publicada en Chile protagonizada por un inmigrante
chino: El Chino del autor peruano Ernesto Monge Wilhems (1878-1937), estrenada en 1925 y publicada en
1927 en la colección Lectura Selecta. Por medio de un análisis de la obra, proponemos que El Chino fue una
obra rupturista para su época. Aunque no exenta de racismo y estereotipos, Ernesto Monge Wilhems
construyó una imagen compleja del migrante chino que difería de la representación tradicional de las
personas chinas de la primera mitad del siglo XX.

Los inmigrantes chinos fueron uno de los grupos de extranjeros más numerosos en el norte de Chile, particularmente en las regiones de Tacna y Arica. Pese a sus aportes a la vida económica, social y cultural, los discursos políticos y de la prensa tendieron a enfatizar el peligro que significaban para el país y especialmente para esta región fronteriza. Este artículo analiza los tres grandes “peligros” que, según el discurso público, significaba la inmigración y presencia china para esta provincia: el peligro para el comercio, la salud y la nación. El estudio se sustenta en documentación del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Chile y Perú, administración chilena en Tacna y Arica, censos regionales y nacionales y artículos periodísticos.
