El Qingming Jie ( 清明节), Festival del Qingming o Día de los muertos es una festividad muy importante en el calendario chino. Es la fecha idónea para rendir tributo y rezar por los antepasados. Una fecha así de importante no es ajena a los descendientes de chinos en La Habana, Cuba. Suyen Cabrera, una tusán cubana, envió fotos de familiares y amigos en su visita a sus ancestros a propósito de esta importante fecha al cementerio chino de La Habana. Este es uno de los cementerios chinos más grandes de Latinoamérica. Ha resistido reciamente al tiempo y guarda un valor histórico incalculable.

El crecimiento de China durante el siglo XX es el impacto de las reformas económicas emprendidas por Deng Xiaoping desde 1978. Instaurando un “socialismo con características chinas”. Otra medida muy destacada en la actualidad es la gran inversión a las áreas STEM (ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería y matemáticas) por parte del gigante asiático. Lo que ha posibilitado ser una de las naciones con mayor cantidad de ingenieros y científicos capacitados para el desarrollo de diversas tecnologías. Fue este desarrollo científico y tecnológico una de las bases del país al hacer frente a la pandemia actual del COVID-19.
El FMI estima que Asia del Este será la única región del mundo que aún crecerá en el presente año, y aun la de mayor crecimiento en los años venideros. Un modelo perfecto de desarrollo no existe, y el modelo chino no es para nada algo cercano a esta utópica perfección.
Si bien, la prioridad para la humanidad (por ahora) está en el arduo reto de vencer a un inesperado enemigo invisible, una vez que esto se logre superar, podemos aprender y sacar lecciones muy valiosas de aquellas cosas que funcionan del otro lado del mundo. No por nada, el siglo de China (o quizás más precisamente el siglo de Asia) está ya próximo por comenzar.

A inicios de este año se hizo de conocimiento masivo la existencia de un nuevo virus en el centro de China capaz de ocasionar graves problemas a la salud pública y de expandirse desmedidamente fuera de su lugar de origen. La lucha contra esta enfermedad fue, de hecho, un proceso de aprendizaje continuo, y cuando ya se tuvo suficiente información acerca de los mecanismos de contingencia, se pudieron aplicar medidas paliativas que lentamente fueron disminuyendo los casos activos de contagio. De esta experiencia es muy importante notar un elemento: la información.
Y es pues, esta información, la que permite desarrollar herramientas más sofisticadas, como los sistemas de reconocimiento facial insertado en el sistema de videovigilancia más grande del mundo, empleando más de 20 millones de cámaras. El gigante asiático impulsó también el desarrollo de la tecnología 5G, y la observación de patrones anticipados a alguna acción delincuencial. Estas herramientas ayudaron a determinar el movimiento e identificación de personas contagiadas por el nuevo virus, lo cual permitió un mejor reconocimiento de clústeres de esta enfermedad y una respuesta mucho mejor dirigida.
Por otro lado han surgido bastantes críticas al respecto, entre ellas destaca la vulneración a la privacidad de las personas.

El presente trabajo hace un recorrido cronológico del arribo de los “nuevos migrantes” (asiáticos) al país de Argentina, centrándose en chinos y taiwaneses. Luego, desde una perspectiva de corte etnográfico analiza la construcción del “otro”, mediante mecanismos de visibilización por parte de la sociedad mayor hacia el grupo migrante. Se usó como material de soporte los datos recabados en entrevistas en profundidad realizadas a siete mujeres jóvenes chinas/taiwanesas o descendientes de estas nacionalidades en el contexto de Buenos Aires.

Abstract
A summary of the resource.
Recopila de manera didáctica y general estudios sobre las sociedades chinas existentes en Cuba, así como su aporte y participación en la conformación, establecimiento, desarrollo y permanencia de la comunidad china en Cuba. El proyecto de la Cátedra de Estudios sobre la Inmigración China en Cuba (Casa de Altos Estudios Don Fernando Ortiz, Universidad de La Habana) busca lograr un acercamiento primario a este tema apoyándose en el uso de hipervínculos y archivos audiovisuales y multimedia publicados en soporte CD-ROM. El proyecto fue coordinado por la Dra. María Teresa Montes de Oca Choy y la historiadora Yanet Jiménez Rojas.

El presente artículo es un ejercicio de memoria organizada en torno a dos aspectos. El primero relacionado a la rememoración sobre el bisabuelo que llegó al sur del Perú desde la China. El segundo, sobre mi contacto con la cultura chino-peruana durante mi infancia y adolescencia. Destaco dicha impronta marcada desde lo cotidiano, por lo que suele ser imperceptible y subjetiva.

A mediados del siglo XIX los primeros inmigrantes chinos fueron traídos al Perú para amortiguar la escasez de mano de obra. Llegaron a una sociedad cerrada que los forzó a sobrevivir bajo condiciones marginales y vulnerables. Con el transcurso de las décadas y de manera paulatina construyeron una comunidad integrada a la sociedad peruana. La principal conclusión de este artículo es que la alta movilidad social, incluso mayor que la de los habitantes nativos, fue resultado de una serie de tácticas empleadas por los chinos a lo largo de su vida cotidiana. Este comportamiento explica por qué en la actualidad los «chinos» constituyen uno de los grupos inmigrantes con mayor inserción en la sociedad peruana que cualquier otro grupo étnico inmigrante.

Este estudio muestra documentos de los primeros chinos que llegaron a Costa Rica y pretende evidenciar como la población china de Costa Rica representa hoy un sector importante en la población total. Este sector no solo esta integrado por aquellos de origen puramente chino, sino también por una cantidad importante de personas, descendiente de casamientos mixtos de chinos con costarricenses de origen hispánico, indígena o africano. La importancia cada vez de la historia social ha despertado interés por descubrir los orígenes de ese grupo racial en Costa Rica, como forma de llegar a una estimación de su influencia pasada y actual en la sociedad.
