Huiying B. Chan is a writer, researcher, and community organizer from New York City with roots tracing back to Toisan 台山 and Hoiping 開平. After being the first to graduate from Wellesley College with a degree in Ethnic Studies, Huiying received the Knafel Fellowship to pursue a fully-funded research project traveling solo to Chinatowns around the world. In one year, they traveled to eight countries in a global search of home in the diaspora. Through creative non-fiction writing, oral histories, and photographs, Huiying documents stories of migration and resilience across in the diaspora.
